Opium Garden

The series of photographs depicts a utopian relationship in which two persons are directed only to one another through intentional isolation and thus forming the “rules of the game”. The relationship is formed outside of the dominant cultural context, but again it is conditioned by a norm where the accent is on sensual indulgence. Relationship reflects nostalgia for the “primitive” tribal behavior and indicates the need of postmodern subject to create personal microvessels that are not related to the course of civilization. In this way, the expression of subjectivity becomes more bodily and sensual, thereby collapsing the historical imperative to search for hidden meanings and cease to be subjects of the hidden interior which needs to be discovered.
